Plowing Through

We had a beautiful snowfall over the weekend, very close to 2 feet, and of course drifts much higher. Luckily the wind died down on Sunday. We were a little worried about the spring lambs getting around, but the snow was pretty dry and fluffy and not too difficult to get around in. Everyone pretty much just plowed right through it.

That said, thank goodness for the ability to forget fairly quickly just how exhausting it is to haul hay and water around in 2 feet of snow. Hopefully we won’t have another big snow before we break up the breeding groups. Then everyone will be closer to the barn.

It has been a very busy week! Snow last Saturday, then wind and bitter cold. Lots of hauling hay and water, spinning and knitting going on. We’ve had these photos sitting in draft mode all week long. Soooo, we’ll just share these photos from last weekend and hope for more opportunities to share our farm news during the coming week.

Working Women’s Wednesdays

Wednesday was another BUSY workday. We moved Poseidon in with a small group of ewes in the nursery area near the barn. We can keep a close eye on him there and see how he gets along. We have not put a marking harness on him as we are wary that there might be some lingering injury from the ram nonsense. He has grown into a really beautiful… err handsome… fellow. Must make sure to take some updated pictures this weekend.

We also managed to get quite a few more lambs’ fleeces skirted. Watch for them in the shop. We are trying to get a few things posted each day.
