Still… the Adverb

Still…
(adverb) as previously, as yet, as in the past…

Despite a couple days of warmer temperatures, some of the feeders and the fence line still look like this

and this… Samson can still walk over the perimeter fence, so he is still in the barn

where he now thinks that his primary job is to guard the rabbits and the hay bales. This and the fact that we now need to take him on walks, has made feeding time even more of an adventure.

Poor Saul’s breeding group is still at the bottom of the hill. We are still pulling hay and water to them on a tarp, BUT we no longer have to wear snowshoes! Woooo Hoooo!

Snow Pack

… the 2nd floor deck off the fiber room, packed with snow up to the railing … no blowing or drifting … just nature-packed snow

… paddock fencing and shelters … Samson has a path made to the far shelter … his dog house has disappeared

… about one-third of the way up, you can just barely see the top of the posts of our 42-inch tall paddock fencing going down the hill

… a little drifting at the top of the hill against the perimeter fencing

… temperatures moving into the upper 30’s and low 40’s will feel like spring for the next 10 days … hoping the snow does not melt too fast and into a sloppy mess … it has been a difficult winter already … there’s a looong way to go

The Month of Thanksgiving – Eighteen

We are thankful today for temporary electric fencing. This seemingly insignificant contraption has made the lives of the shepherdess/s soooo much easier! With our fencing we are able to —

… create numerous paddocks within our perimeter fencing for rotational grazing

… separate paddocks for each breeding group

… utilize the hay field way over there for grazing with the help of a solar energizer

… release the bio-mowers in the barnyard

… create a nursery area for new mamas and their little ones

… create new paddocks for weaned lambs (with several empty paddocks between them and their mamas)
The list just goes on and on and on…
So thank you, Mr. Temporary Electric Fencing Inventor Guy!
