We spotted this little guy in the pasture following a heavy rain and herded it out of harms way into some taller weeds by the fenceline
The red eft ~ the terrestrial juvenile stage of the red spotted newt
Beginning as a tadpole, the newt then lives for 2 to 3 years in this beautiful bright orange stage
As an adult, it turns green with red spots and once again takes to the water

While Raven is technically not a working dog, if you told her any different she would be very insulted.  She makes the rounds of chores, and fiercely guards the farm and family.  As she is getting older and is having some arthritis problems, she does more waiting… as in ‘I know you’re coming back this way when you finish putting up that fence… I’ll wait right here in the shade.”

We’re sharing a peek at one of Juliet’s twins, little Miss 1206, who along with her sister is enjoying the move to larger quarters this week.  We’re not quite confident in Juliet’s abilities to keep track of twins so she and her twins along with Daisy and her triplets will be building mothering skills in a separate temporary paddock.
