Berry Time

It’s berry time!  The first of the berries and one of our favorites, the blueberries, are loaded with goodness this year.  There is a great contest to beat the birds as they ripen and the constant stormy weather leaves small windows of opportunity to pick without getting soaked.  But we are determined.  Summer and blueberries – bring on the pie!

Our girl, Bertha, has received a lot of Flickr love this week.  She has been described almost perfectly by one of our Flickr friends ~  “like a rough and tumble child with bits of the wild in her hair”.  This is another shot just moments after her pasture greeting.  She is a beauty and looks even more beautiful in a winter landscape.  We’re hoping she’s growing one or two equally beautiful lambs 🙂

Belladonna has been very busy, figuring out the new fencing configuration, and keeping track of her sheep.  We were reminded how lucky we are by a Flickr friend in Wisconsin whose guard dogs had a run in with coyotes this week.  Thank goodness, her dogs are going to be ok, and her sheep were not injured.  A good reminder to give Bella and Samson an extra hug this morning.  What a blessing they are!
