Although it seems to be hard to capture these moments of camaraderie… they are both so spoiled if they see you near the fence they come running… Liam and Samson have developed a mututal respect. It is neat to watch them in the field, spending time in the same area, respecting each other’s boundaries but obviously enjoying each other’s company.

Muffy and Bella
Turkey Trot
It appears to be quite impossible to get a great photo, but the wild turkey hens and poults are seemingly everywhere. They spent several days in the pasture with the yearlings and Samson. They hung out by the chicken coop with Belladonna. They spend a lot of time in the old barn hayfield, crossing the barn lane to disappear into the woods. They recently amused the lambs by spending a great deal of time in their pasture, and the lambs amused themselves by following the line of wild turkeys. Not a big surprise, really… we all know that our sheep love a parade!
Bella’s Birthday Winner
And the winner is #9 (chosen by random number generator) – Isaiah from the Deer Path News blog. Congratulations Isaiah!
Bella’s Give-Away
Our big girl, Belladonna, celebrated her third birthday on Sunday! To thank all of you who have watched her grow up here on the blog, she is having a give-away. To enter just comment on this post. You could win a special gift from Bella! (Sorry… it’s so new that it has not arrived. No… it’s not a puppy.)
Bella with the Lambs
A quick peek at Belladonna with the lambs last weekend… and we’re off to get the morning chores done. We’re making hay this afternoon… guess that’s the official start of summer here on the farm.
Don’t forget to comment on Thursday’s post… you could be the lucky recipient of a skein of our farm-grown, hand-dyed, millspun yarn!
Good Company
Had some wonderful and very excited company on the quest to capture photographic proof that the pasture pear trees are already blooming.
Belladonna, our not quite two year old Maremma guardian, was quite the enthusiastic and entertaining partner.
You can see who took center stage… two pictures of the pear blossoms… probably thirty of Bella.
She sure is a beauty!
