Scenes From the Pasture
Sub-zero temperatures, mounting snow pack and strong winds have all made winter chores much more difficult.
We’ve tried to take a few moments here and there and capture the beauty of these days of ‘snow globe weather’.

Sheep Drifts
Hosanna
Hosanna, another of the lovely ‘twelves’, is coming around the end of the feeder to see if another bale of hay is on its way. She isn’t disappointed, as it is feeding time. After a couple of mild days, temperatures are back in the single digits this morning. and there’s a couple inches of new snow. We’re hoping to get the breeding groups all back to the barn today. Hope it warms up a little 🙂

Sam and the Boys
In our flurry of moving activity, even Samson got in the rotating pastures mix. He is now in with Liam, Strider and Jack. A move he seems to be enjoying if the smile on his face in any indication. The boys… they just try to ignore him.
Moving Around
A little late this year, but we finally moved the ewes to the hayfield pasture on Saturday. Mid-summer was rainy so hay was made later this year. Then it seemed to take the grass a little longer than usual to re-grow to pasture length. The move went quite smoothly, and even Luke and Willet cooperated. The ewes are very happy in their new pasture, and will remain there (with some paddock moving) until breeding preparations begin.
